Conversations that lingered, laughter and tears across the table, food passed from one to another, and the precious gift of each other’s presence, enjoyed for its own sake. The occasion gave us a reason to gather, but perhaps the gathering was the reason all along.

And sometimes, life needs no name for the occasion. Someone has come home. Family is visiting. Old friends cross paths again. Nothing remarkable has happened, nor does anything need to happen.
